Projects

These are different projects I have worked on throughout my experience in higher education. I've worked in course development, curriculum design, retention, and student services offices.

Graduate Application Review Workflow

Graduate Admissions Coordinator at Texas Tech University

In an effort to promote efficiency with the application review process in the College of Education, I utilized SharePoint folders separated by program level, intended start term of the applicant, and whether the applicant was Accepted or Denied.

Using Microsoft Power Automate, faculty members in charge of application reviews are automatically notified when new applications are ready to be reviewed.

This workflow ensures a streamlined review process for the College of Education's 30+ programs, and allows for a real-time reference point for faculty to see how many applicants and what their status.

SharePoint access is restricted to TTU email addresses and can only be accessed on the TTU wired connection or through TTU's VPN, ensuring compliance with security requirements.

New Graduate Student Onboarding Session

Graduate Admissions Coordinator at Texas Tech University

Graduate students admitted to Texas Tech University are admitted through the Graduate School. The graduate program they pursue is housed within the program's College.

The Graduate School provides an onboarding session every semester for newly admitted students.

What we found in the College of Education is many of our students were describing feelings of being lost, unsure of what resources to take advantage of, or who to contact with questions.

I was tasked with building an Onboarding Session for newly admitted students in College of Education programs. The purpose of this Onboarding Session is to clarify information specific to our population of students, provide a checklist of action items new students need to complete, and resources and contacts should they need assistance.

The goal was to address the pain points new graduate students described and create a resource that was accessible to them. Newly admitted students would be asked to register with their TTU email address (ensuring active student status), but the presentation is also available as a secured link that can be distributed by faculty members if a scheduled session is not available.

The Onboarding Session is compliant with TTU branding and FERPA guidelines.

Financial Aid LMS Workshop

Student Resource Coordinator at Clovis Community College

As part of a Title V grant at Clovis Community College, the financial aid office requested a workshop be developed for students who were not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress.

The workshop was hosted in the Canvas LMS, and students on financial aid suspension, warning, or probation were enrolled in the workshop. Students who were on financial aid suspension were required to complete the workshop as part of their appeals process.

The workshop contained information on different financial aid awards, terms and conditions of those awards, and advice on how to choose the right aid type in an easy to digest manner. After each section, students had a short 5-question quiz to complete. Finishing the workshop resulted in a certificate that was attached to their student file. The workshop was designed in accordance with the ADDIE design model, Charles Reigeluth's Elaboration Theory, and the SAM model.

Attached below are downloads for additional data regarding the project.

Financial Literacy Curriculum Development

Student Resource Coordinator at Clovis Community College

Part of my duties at Clovis Community College was the development of financial literacy curriculum that could be adopted into FYEX 1110 courses.

FYEX 1110 curriculum was already crowded prior to the inclusion of financial literacy items, so the goal was fourfold: that the curriculum would practice good habits from the start, would be easy to understand, could be flexible and adaptable, and applicable to the diverse student body. The curriculum was designed utilizing Merill's Principle's of Instruction and Jerome Bruner's Discovery-Based Learning.

Additionally, prior to the COVID-19 shutdown in spring of 2020, there was a financial literacy event planned during the month of April.

Faculty, staff, and community member volunteers had lectures planned for periods of 30 minutes or less on a variety of financial topics.

Financial tips were planned to be scattered around campus, and students who brought in a physical tip could be eligible to receive a small door prize.
